In countless ways, the legacy of the late Stan Lee has trickled onto anyone who has seen his work. He had inspired artists to embrace their creative spirits, brought a “P.T. Barnum aspect” to the pop culture world, and had fought against racism in an era when many considered it a non-issue. The man was indeed ahead of his time.

Following the touching tribute delivered by the original six ‘Avengers’ in the MCU, actor and former WWE wrestler Dave Bautista has issued his goodbye to Lee on Twitter.

Bautista, who plays ‘Drax’ in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, recounted acting like an utter fanboy whenever Lee acknowledged his presence.

“He was always good to me, and I giggled like a kid every time he said my name. Stan Lee knows my name, wow!”

“I was always so starstruck that I don’t think I ever thanked him for inspiring me. Through his characters and through his life. Thank you, Stan.”

Lee had continued to create, as well as immerse fans in his world, even in the months leading to his death. Last month, the final Stan Lee-developed superhero to be unveiled before his passing had been announced.

In June, he posted a video warning ‘Thanos’ not to cause any more harm to his superheroes. “I go out of town for a few days, and when I get back, I find out that ‘Thanos’ has destroyed everything! All my characters. That’s the last time I ever take a discount vacation!”

“Well, unfortunately it means a lot of new work for me. Don’t worry—before you know it, I’ll have our friends up and at ’em.”
