“Success is most often achieved by those who don’t know that failure is inevitable.” – French fashion designer Coco Chanel

When initially starting out in something, it can be discouraging to know that you aren’t at the standard you aspire to be. Like many others, your skills and knowledge gradually improve through time and hard work.

In 2017, DesignTAXI brought you the ‘Draw Me Again Challenge’ that proves practice makes perfect. For those feeling particularly dispirited today, chin up because these artists might just reignite that inherent spark to continue persevering and improving.

In this updated ‘Draw This Again’ challenge, one particular juxtaposed artwork has stood out from the crowd. Seattle-based artist Dylan Eakin recently stunned users on Imgur and Instagram after uploading his 2016 versus 2018 hyperrealistic portrait, pictured above.

On Imgur, many users mistook the 2018 artwork for a photograph, including ‘Saric92’ who proceeded to zoom in on the visual. “Surely that can’t be a drawing, that’s ridiculously realistic, If so, bloody hell you’re good OP,” wrote ‘TheZulthar’.

Iputonpantstwolegsatonce’ confirms Eakin’s drawing skills by sharing the artist’s incredible 90-hour photorealism time-lapse, featured below.

Two years (okay, a year and a half) of self portraits. It's been a dang heck of a time, and I've logged thousands and thousands of hours into drawing. The dedication pays off , and I'm so thankful for the support group I'm surrounded by. And there's still so much to learn. Keep cool, and keep drawing. . . . #gallery #artoftheday #paint #art_toinspire #sketch_dailydose #selfportrait #art_realism_ #worldofpencils #creative #artwork #drawings #artist #art #charcoaldrawing #charcoal #art_insanely #realism #pencilportrait #duende_arts_help #create #loveart #photorealism #photography #portraiture #artgallery #fineart #myart

I broke my neck and was paralyzed in Dec. 2010. Here is a photo of the first drawing I did in rehab, with assistance from my recreational therapist Ashley. Followed by a self portrait I did 7 years later. I’ve improved a little. from r/drawing
