When the next NBA season kicks in, adidas athletes are expected to don Kanye West’s first YEEZY basketball sneakers—which were apparently the three-year result of almost 300 iterations—but it seems like plans for the shoes’ debut might fall through.
According to ESPN, which cites industry sources, the NBA league office would forbid the ‘YZY BZKTBL’ silhouette from appearing on field due to the glaring, reflective panel on its heel.
It is no longer a requisite for basketball players to match their shoes with their uniforms, though brands still need to undergo an approval process when submitting new footwear designs for upcoming seasons.
The insiders claim that YEEZY has not contributed documents relating to the ‘BZKTBL’ shoe, but the current sample shared online showing the reflective ‘3M’ material would be a no-go for the office.
However, the NBA league is likely to accept future iterations of the monochromatic sneaker that forgo the material, they add.ESPN, images via Kanye West] http://www.designtaxi.com/news/401785/Kanye-West-s-YEEZY-Basketball-Shoes-Could-Be-Banned-By-NBA-Over-Color-Restraints/
