At the 2018 Ryan Arts BE A HERO Fundraiser, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige spilled some beans about MCU’s two upcoming movies.

In an interview with Bionic Buzz, Feige teased that Captain Marvel proves complicated due to its dense history that goes quite far back, therefore this film adaptation will see a narrowed version of the superhero.

The movie will be based on ‘Carol Danvers’ from the Kelly Sue DeConnick comic books, and though the series has only been around for several years, the character has already inspired many fans worldwide. In DeConnick’s version, the timeline is set between 2012 and 2015, so fans will get the glimpse of the character in the modern era, instead of when the character first appeared in the 60s.

Aside from Captain Marvel, another MCU movie in the works is The Eternals, reported for a 2020 release. Feige explained that the film will be set one million years back in time and focus on the ‘Celestials’—who created the ‘Infinity Stones’—and ‘Deviants’ that will go into battle.

Though he did not leak much details about The Eternals, Feige drew comparisons between the upcoming film and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Feige said, “[I can say] very little when it comes to Eternals, but I will say your reaction about not being familiar with The Eternals is perfect because most people weren’t familiar with Guardians, and believe it or not, there were people who were not familiar with Avengers or with Iron Man. So for us, it’s finding great stories, whether people have heard of them or not, and bring them to the big screen in as an amazing way as we can.”

The Marvel Studios head also recently paid tribute to Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee, whose recent passing has left fans deeply saddened.

On Twitter, Feige wrote, “No one has had more of an impact on my career and everything we do at Marvel Studios than Stan Lee. Stan leaves an extraordinary legacy that will outlive us all. Our thoughts are with his daughter, his family, and his millions of fans.”
